Bioinformatics Data Analyst

We are looking for an experienced Bioinformatics Data Analyst with
extensive DNA sequence analysis experience to join our Bioinformatics
department.

Main responsibilities:

* Analyzing various genome and transcriptome projects using
bioinformatics software and the mapping and assembly software
developed at 454, in order to design new views and tools for analyzing
genome/transcriptome sequencing projects

* Testing early versions of the mapping and assembly software,
identifying limitations and bugs in the software

* Sup****ting our customers, through interactions with key
collaborators involved in large or complex projects and through the
writing of user-oriented guides to analyzing 454 sequence data.

*** Please note that this is not a research position intended to
analyze one specific genome or project. The goal of this position is
to quickly translate analytical insights and understanding into
solutions (techniques and software) that are delivered to our
customers. Requirements:

* At least 3 years assembling, fini****ng and/or analyzing DNA
sequences, with genome center experience preferred. * M.S. or Ph.D. in
biology, genetics or bioinformatics, with a focus on genomes or
transcriptomes. * Expertise in current bioinformatics tools, sequence
repositories and internet resources. * Experience with Linux and with
the use of Unix-based bioinformatics tools required. * Excellent
written and verbal communication skills.
