Bioinformatics Analyst I
Job Description:
We are looking for an entry level Bioinformatics Analyst to work in
our Production Informatics group.
Responsibilities:
=B7 This position has the responsibility of participating in efforts in
computational tools development, data mining and data integration to
sup****t ultra-high throughput genome sequencing and comparative
genomic analysis, with limited guidance.
=B7 Applies his/her knowledge and experience to impact project/function
direction.
=B7 Recognizes and communicates promising ideas.
=B7 Specific projects include sequence assembly, whole genome
annotation, SNP analysis, and comparative genomics.
=B7 Design and implement data analysis methodologies through hands-on
programming.
=B7 Evaluate external software packages and integrate them into in house
environment.
Knowledge & Skills:
=B7 Perl required, C and Java desirable =B7 Linux, Shell scripting
required =B7 Expert use of biological sequence databases =B7 Strong
capability in data mining and pattern recognition =B7 Significant
scientific programming and tool development experience in sequence
analysis, high-throughput sequencing and genotyping. =B7 Works very
thoroughly, yet in a fast paced manner. =B7 Effectively manages change,
while inspiring colleagues-to help meet departmental milestones. =B7
Experienced in both research and development. Requirements:
* Possess an M.S./PhD, or equivalent - in Biology or Bioinformatics *
0-2 years direct, hands-on experience in a research or production
environment.
