Research Scientist, Drug Discovery
Position Description and Responsibilities: The qualified candidate
will participate in drug discovery in atherosclerosis and lipids.
Research will be an ongoing drug discovery project in the area of
nuclear hormone receptors and will involve the development,
validation, and execution of screens for compounds that regulate these
targets, and the study of their expression, regulation and mechanisms
of action. The candidate should have excellent communication skills,
work independently, and present written re****ts and oral
presentations. High motivation and flexibility, as well as the ability
to work effectively as part of a team, are necessary. Position
Requirements: Masters degree, but Bachelors with extensive experience
in appropriate areas isacceptable minimum of 5 years post Bachelors or
3 years post Masters. Demonstrated experience in basic molecular
biology skills including the analysis of gene and protein expression,
including quantitative PCR, plasmid construction, PCR amplification,
cell culture, recombinant protein expression, and re****ter assays .
The applicant also should be proficient with Excel and standard
sequence bioinformatics software. Experience in designing, developing,
and execution of in vitro and cell based drug screens is also
required. Knowledge and experience in working with atherosclerosis
animal models would be preferred but not required.
