Rain Forest Ecology and Conservation Field Course in Costa Rica

The State University of New York at Oneonta and Danta: Association for
Conservation of the Tropics are pleased to announce a Rain Forest
Ecology and Conservation Field Course to be held in Costa Rica from
July 19 to August 3, 2007.  This program is open to people of all
academic backgrounds. Participants may enroll on either a credit or
non-credit basis. Also, an optional ecotravel experience will be
provided for those who wish to arrive early for travel before the
course.

During this intensive 15 day course students will gain first-hand
experience of how to work as an ecologist in a tropical rain forest
environment. The course will be conducted at El Zota Biological Field
Station in the Northeastern part of Costa Rica. Each day comprises of
forest hikes, ecological methods seminars, participation in group
field projects and indoor lectures covering various aspects of
tropical ecology, natural history and conservation. The course
includes a visit to other ecosystems in Costa Rica, taking in an
active volcano, a highland cloud forest and Tortuguero National Park
on the Caribbean coast, famed for its breeding sea turtles.

The cost of the course is $1550, and includes all within-country
trans****tation, room and board, and expenses for a 3 day field trip.
It does NOT include your international flight, air****t taxes ($25),
accommodation and meals for the first and last nights in San Jose. The
deadline for registration is May 1, 2007. Enrollment is limited to 15
participants. This does not include tuition at the State University of
New York of Oneonta. Independent study credit can be obtained through
your home
institution
