I am interested in the relative im****tance of genetic and cultural
factors with regard to the behavior patterns seen in bonobos. It seems
to me that I read someplace about a female chimpanzee that was raised
for a period of time with a group of bonobos. The point was that she
took on the behavioal characteristics of the bonobos while in that
group and reverted to more typical chimp behavior when put in a chimp
group. I can't for the life of me recall where I read this. Is this
urbane legend? A dream I had? An authentic piece of observation? Does
anybody know where such an event might be described?
