'Innate Replacement Mechanism' Replacement?

by John Latter <jorolat@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jan 9, 2006 at 08:42 AM

Hi,

I don't know much about this stuff but I've read that Lorenz's model
of the 'Innate releasing Mechanism' is now replaced by 'Releasing
Mechanism'.

A confusing (for me) search on google says that Lorenz's model was
energy based while the new one is information based - are there any
primers on the net where I can find out more?

I'm particularly interested in any equivalent to the hydraulic model
(ie a 'black box' model or something).

Sorry if I'm rather vague, I just thought I might be put on the right
lines here rather than swanning around cyberspace via search engines.
