The State University of New York, Oneonta and DANTA (a non-profit
conservation organization)are sponsoring a field course in Primate
Behavior and Conservation from June 3, 2006 through July 1, 2006 in
Costa Rica, Central America.
Students in the course learn methods of studying animal behavior and
wildlife census, as well as ecological methods for *****sing forest
structure and resource availability for primates. During the latter
half of the course students design and conduct an independent research
project on one of three primate species found at the El Zota Biological
Field Station: spider monkeys, mantled howling monkeys or white-faced
capuchins. Students can arrange to earn from 3-6 university credits for
the course.
Course cost is $2260. This includes tuition, room and board, all within
country trans****tation, travel insurance, and two field trips, a
3-night trip to Manuel Antonio National Park and an over-night trip to
Volcan Poas. The course fee does not include international airfare.
