Strange do with no ticks?

by Michael A. Ball <Guardian@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jul 8, 2008 at 04:35 PM

A dog was picked up along the interstate (mountainous area) and brought
to the shelter. No collar, as usual. It is very thin and had a lot of
undercoat which he allowed me to comb out. He is energetic, yet
incredibly gentle. He is a very likeable dog.

It is being listed as a "shepherd/huskily mix," to reduce the likelihood
of anyone asking if it isn't a wolf/dog mix or a coyote/dog mix. He is
very pretty and really looks the part.

I've noticed that he does not smell like a dog. The most peculiar thing
I've noticed is that I didn't find a single tick on him. Considering
what most stray dogs come in with, its amazing to have found no ticks on
him.

My question is, could any wolf of coyote genetic material in this dog
cause him to naturally repel ticks?

Thank you.
