i went to the shelter today to see a 9 y/o border collie mix listed on
petfinder. he turned out to be not at all the dog for me (too big, too
barky, too aloof). there was actually an old lab mix there that i
liked tremendously- he was very sweet and very mellow and very cute.
labs are NOT my thing AT ALL, and he was not good with other dogs, but
i really hope he gets a good home because he made me all melty.
anyway, i have all these illusions about how i'm going to get a baby
border collie puppy as my next s****t dog.
you all know that's not going to happen, right? lol
there were so many young adult pit bulls at the shelter who i wanted
to take home. i really *don't* want another pit, but it's so hard to
walk away, not so much from specific dogs, but from the idea of taking
one of these dogs out of a shelter and putting them in a good home.
sigh. i don't know.
it's such a complete change of mindset from shelter dog to purchased
puppy. i have so many reasons to want my purchased puppy. but there
are so many reasons to go back to the shelter, too.
well, plenty of time to figure out what to do. no hurry.
