Ah yes, swamp coolers! That's what we had in Highland. Don't miss them. 
You're right, they work well when the air is dry, but when some humidity 
moves in, forget it.

Boy, would that not work here in the midwest! I could tell it was humid 
this weekend just by listening to the sounds from the basement. The A/C 
eva****ator unit has a drain line that runs to the floor drain in the 
basement. Most of the time we can hear a drip every few minutes. For the 
last couple of days it's been a constant "drip-drip-drip". Glad it's 
down in the basement so I can't hear it from the bedroom.
