Bob, if you want to pay for it, you can have an electric car. The problem
is 
not making one, it's price. What you want is one that will cost the same
as 
the one run on gas, so what you want is for the tax payers to pay for it. 
There is no magic car that the oil companies shut down. If there was a
magic 
car, you really believe no one would make one? No communist countries
would 
make them. The oil companies bought all these people off? Battery tech has

moved light years in the last 10, but it is still VERY expensive. A car
can 
be made to work very well on the same batteries that run your laptop, but 
you would not like the price. If you do come out with a good cheap
battery, 
then they start mass producing cars that need to be charged, did you stop 
and think where the electricity comes from? Can't build damns, can't burn 
coal, can't build Nuclear, wind mills kill the birds, and on and on it
goes. 
Yet any time some crack pot comes out with some claim that these were made

and were pennies to run so some company killed them, you get a lot of
people 
who will jump on it and believe ANYTHING they are told, as long as it
fit's 
with the theory they already want to be true. The one thing they never
like 
to talk about with a battery car is how long the batteries last till they 
need to be replaced, and how much replacing is going to cost. They LOVE to

shout about how cheap these are to drive, and pretend like the batteries 
just last forever, and are turned into water when they wear out. The truth

is easy to find of you want to see it Bob, but many people don't want to
see 
it. They have their mind made up and will believe anything some loon comes

up with.
