Hi guys,
I have 2 chinese painted quails (the small ones) in my aviary with budgies
and cockatiels, yesterday the female seemed to be "collapsed" on her body,
with her legs sticking out although she was moving around by flapping her
wings. Sometimes the legs would be sticking out the front, sometimes the
back, and sometimes one each way. She is pecking and eating normally,
looking alert.
We took her to the vet who ruled out broken leg etc., the vet gave her
some
antibiotic (baytril?) but wasn't completely sure what the problem was...
and
told us to "wait a few days" to see how it goes, it wasn't clear
apparently
if she was egg-bound, or maybe a Vitamin-D deficiency. Or something else.
Is there anything I can do in the meantime? I'm trying to give her
chopped-up healthy foods and made sure she has sunlight on a part of the
cage.
Thanks for any help here.
