Amaryllis Plants and Budgies

by m <m@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jan 2, 2008 at 02:11 AM

I've had our Parrakeet for about 7 years now. He is still in good
health and I preffer to keep him that way. We recently got an
amaryllis plant and it is now blooming. I realize that this is a
poisonous plant for budgies. Since we don't allow the budgie to fly
around the house (he is clipped) then eating the plant is no problem.
In fact he seems to be afraid of it.
Anyway, Does the odor from the blooming flower present a problem?

I have always been carefull of strong odors that can be fatal. I
recently assembled a bookcase (one of those made in china pressboard
veniered wood) and it has a noticeable oil stain odor. I left it in
the basement away from the bird until the smell subsides.
