Caelan, just wanted to say again that I'm sorry you're in this situation. 
It's very easy for us folks out "here" to get emotionally up in arms over 
stuff like this.  <sigh>  What a terrible situation.  I just don't know
what 
is wrong with people.  How can his owner and the broker just be so
uncaring 
to another living creature.  Think what they want, but almost everyone
knows 
horses feel pain even if you believe they feel nothing else.  Pain is a 
survival mechanism, we all have it.

I'm sorry for your troubles.  What are you doing next?  Have you asked
them 
to take their horse back or are you waiting for them to "blame" you and 
having to keep him?

At least he's in your care for now.  I hope his owner(s) or the broker 
decides to do the right thing here.  But it doesn't sound good.
