Well, I appreciate everyone's input. Cable may end up being a viable
option if she can get over her aversion to the cable company. When they
originally moved into their house, the cable company wanted on the order
of $2-3k to bring the cable up the drive, now they're banging the doors
down to install it for free.
She got some funky #'s for Hughes satellite, so was put off by that too
but when *I* checked the website, her #'s were way off.
Cell may be the best option for the time being. I see that Verizon now
has a $40/month plan. It's slower but still orders of magnitude faster
than her dial-up. She's not going to be downloading massive amounts,
just getting e-mail and the occasional web browsing. She also does some
training online.
