Can I emphasize daily exercise as a preventative? Don't stress the
horse, don't work him into a lather, but give him at least half an hour
of steady exercise every single day, or even twice a day if you can
manage it. There seems to be more and more evidence that insulin
resistance is implicated in the development of laminitis - those
airferns that just will not loose weight and present cresty even when
they're not being fed much - so improving their metabolism through
steady exercise sounds like a very good move.
