I used to wonder about this punitive, spiteful-seeming, even superior
attitude I often saw when I joined this group two or three years
 ago.

I am more inclined now to refrain from reacting to such outbursts,
because I think I now see at least one reason for it.

People who really enjoy the owner****p or handling of horses,
some of whom have been of the same mind since they were children,
get the unwanted op****tunity to see the sad fixes that some of their
animals get into.

There is a dreadful tendency (which I think may be associated
with the nurturing habit of women even more than men) to blame
themselves for the lameness, sickness and death of their beloved
horses.

It goes without saying, we tend to project our guilt and sorrow on
others. So I conclude that there is room to overlook the hurtful
comments, in the same way that a vet tech will not blame an
injured dog for biting. You can pretty sure that the NG dog that
snaps at you, has been afflicted some time in the past.
