In most years, I get a handful of re****ts of Rufous Hummingbirds in the 
area between early October and New Year's, after the Ruby-throated have 
gone; these hardy western birds are presumably enroute to winter 
quarters in the Gulf states. I keep hoping to host one myself, longshot 
though it is. The earlier arrivals often stay from a few days to a 
couple of months before moving on.
