We finally got rain yesterday and last night!!
Before the rain I went outside to fill feeders and put fresh water in
the any guards. I also put a little sprinkler under some old azaleas
that were near fainting. I went back inside for awhile and when I
came back out my little s**** was back on the hummer feeder and he was
drinking out of the any guard. I had never seen a s**** drinking
before. Then I noticed a female American Redstart flitting in the
bushes. she flew down to where the sprinkler was and took a shower,
then she flew up and preened. so very pretty. she spent the rest of
the day in my yard--fluttering here and there. I hoped she had
brought friends with her but she was apparently alone.
then the rains came--finally.
