A little while ago I looked out and saw a s**** curled around one of
my hummingbird feeders. I think it is the same one that was there
last year but it is about twice as long now--black and gray stripes
and a yellow belly. I went out to look closer and my cat, Bird, went
with me. where upon I did one of those not too bright things and held
Bird up so she could see the s****. the s**** moved, Bird jumped and
put a claw into a vein on my wrist. I now have a big hematoma. the
s**** got tired of being spied on by cat and lady and slithered off
into the Camilla bush. After a while I heard Blue Jays mobbing
something and went to look and apparently they had spied the s****.
Every bird in the yard was flying into and around the Camilla
bush--wrens, mocking bird, even the Cardinals. A real mob scene.
The s**** has by now gotten far enough away that most of the birds
have gone on except for the Mocking bird who is still there.
Last year he got a hummer but maybe this year with all the birds on to
him he will stay off the feeder.
