I'm convinced that Cardinals (and maybe others, I'm not careful enough 
an observer to say) have regional accents.

Seems to me (and "me" and "you" are parts of the interpretive problem) 
around here they say "RightCHeeeeeeer!  Pretty pretty birdy birdy".
