I know there are many more im****tant things going on in Venice, and in
the world we live in but any one who is an animal lover should take
note. Pet Supermakret here in Venice is not taking care of the animals
they have for sale. My husband and I went in there over the weekend for
some supplies as we didn't have the time to go to Petco. We saw adult
cats that are shelter cats able to be adopted out without food or
water. It's not as if they had a dish that was empty, there were no
dishes in there at all. We saw hamsters...roughly 12 or so with various
levels of injuries. Some with less than half an ear...looking as if it
were torn off, many with tears in their ears, and some with patches of
hair missing and blood spots showing underneath where the skin was
broken. I know they are hamsters and by some not considered true pets,
but the fact remains they are still animals and shouldnt' be
mistreated. There was another family there and mentioned it to the
manager on duty (Kevin) and he more or less blew it off. It doesn't
take a rocket scientist to figure out that more than likely these
injured animals will not sell and will be destroyed. Perhaps not
humanely. I called their cor****ate number and it appears they do not
care either. I called animal control in sarasota county and they will
go check it out. Perhaps it's time for the animal lovers of this area
to send Pet Supermarket a message that allowing such things to happen
to defenseless animals isn't right. I know they have permanently lost
my business.
