Re: Budgie Companion

I got him about 2 weeks ago. I am pretty sure he is a male. At least I
did my best to pick out a male by watching the birds' behavour, plus he
has a bright blue cere. The lady at the pet shop insisted that she
clips his wings, so that he would be easier to tame. I do want his
wings to grow back eventually.

Today I visited another pet shop, but they only had English budgies,
and not from a good stock. There was great variation among the body
sizes and shapes of the birds. Anyway, I would prefer to get a smaller,
American budgie, since this is what I already have.

My main question is, can I possibly get another male budgie? I have
read that someone kept a group of males. This little guy is so gentle,
I don't want to end up with an overly aggressive female. What are some
known problems when keeping two males together? The reason I would like
another male, is that I want both birds to be tame, plus I don't want
them to breed.
