Hi. Recently I bought a young male budgie. From what I've read he is a
greywing green pied - I just love his colour! I am working on taming him,
and he already sits on my finger. However, he is very shy. I guess he has
never been alone in his life. He would sit in the same spot in his cage
all
day, and if you take him out, he would sit wherever you put him (his wings
are clipped). He eats well, and doesn't appear sick. I have kept budgies
before, but this is the most timid bird I've ever had.
I am thinking a companion bird would cheer him up. Maybe another budgie,
or
some other small bird. His cage is quite large, 1.5 x 1.5 x 2 ft tall, and
I
would prefer him to share it with another bird.
My question is, can I get another male budgie? Will they be ok together?
My
past experience with females wasn't good - they were aggressive to the
male
and difficult to tame.
I remember how I used to keep a lovebird and a budgie, and they just loved
each other's company (they were in separate cages though). I was thinking
of
getting a parrotlet, but I've read that they are very aggressive. So any
other suggestions are appreciated. How about a button quail? Or a finch?
etc.
Thanks a lot.
