Jim & Cindy
I am sorry for your loss. You may not know an avian vet probably could
not
save Henri. I have a few birds, and after a time, I know that little
birds
are just too small to do much in cases of sudden illness. I have an
isolation cage which is covered and warm just for sick birds. I have
nursed
little parakeets, parrotlets and canaries back to health often. but once
they are old, you might gain another 3 to 6 months at best. I would hate
to
see you invest $300 or more at an avian vet just ot see the bird pass.
Before the forum hatemongers start to flame me, I can keep a little bird
warm, fed and safe better then the last 24 hours of life in a vet's
office.
I live in a metro area and have several vets to chose from. But dont let
your distance from an avian vet weigh on you too heavily.
Talk to your local bird club and ask who they seek advice from. 30 years
of
raising and living with birds does not me or them an avian vet, but I
answer
my phone.
