I believe that in order for teflon to be a problem, it needs to heat way
beyond the temperature your electric appliance would ever get, like
leaving an unattended pot on a burner or in the oven on "broil" so I
don't belive you are in any danger. I have 7 birds in the room next to
the kitchen and use teflon pots and pans all the time with no problem
