At the risk of starting a bonfire, I must admit that Petco not selling
large
birds (IMHO) is actually a good thing. I have read many horror stories of
these poor animals have been mistreated by well meaning but poorly trained
staff. Large chain stores will sell anything to anyone who has the money
and they don't care about the long term welfare of the animal. Reputable
breeders will actually take the time to make sure the new owner is aware
of
what they are getting into. Rescue shelters also take the time to screen
propective owners as well. Petco's screening requirement is the
validation
of your credit card.
Though I think that PETA is a bunch of left wing, tree hugging, overly
idealistic, out of touch with reality, self im****tant, arrogant, all
around
idiots, they did manage to score at least one good thing. Not that this
one
thing justifies their existence.
