Actually, chinchillas are part of the Chinchillidae Family, which is=20
part of the Parvorder Caviomorpha (cavies exist within this same=20
Parvorder, but have their own Family). And if you go up a little=20
further, you will see they are all within the order Rodentia.
Ergo, this makes them all Rodents, cavies included.
