My poor mouse

by "Brian" <nospam@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Aug 9, 2006 at 05:59 PM

Aloha all,

I wrote in the beginning of the year about my mouse scratching himself to
the point of taking off much of his ear and makaing part of his body
fleshy
and raw. I took everyones advice (short of taking him to a vet) and:
1) installed a hot shot no pest strip to try to terminate mites
2) changed his food to a basic diet of rolled oats and rice
3) Pulled out all corn and nuts
4) Various beddings
5) Neos****in + pain relief
6) veg. oil

His condition seemed to improve shortly after changing his diet, but did
not
remain. While his initial spots of concern aren't being scratched anymore,

he's been expanding the area, which is now much larger than before, and
very
bloody as to leave blood in many places in the cage.

I'm saddened to see him like this, and wonder how much pain he is in. I
ask
today, if there is anything else that may prove beneficial to help my
mouse
recover? He was one of my first mice, and the father of my other 5, but I
am
very seriously considering putting him down to stop his pain. He's about a

year old, and has been living alone since his kids were born in November.

Thanks,
Brian
