I totally agree, in part, to the responses. Chattering, sneezing,
wheezing, etc can most definitely be a repository infection, such as
Myco. I would never tell someone not to see a vet. So keep that in mind
as I go on. It sounds to me like your mouse is talking to you,
literally. This may have absolutely nothing to do with an illness.
Since your mouse isn't actually sneezing nor have any other signs of
illness I would be willing to bet that she is doing what's known as
Bruxing. Mice can do this in various ways. Some kinda grind their teeth
or chatter them. Some click, some "kinda" sneeze, etc. I have had
several mice (all unrelated and not exposed to one another do to time
frame of having them) that have done their share of bruxing. They do it
when they see me coming and want attention. All of these mice have
lived to ripe old ages. Bruxing can be compared to a cat purring as
they often do it for the same reason (tho is sounds nothing like a cat
purr). For reassurance you can see a vet. They should be able to tell
you easily if there are any obstructions in their repository system
with a simple listen. I would definitely suggest a vet that has seen
mice or other pocket pets. Mice are so much different than other pets.
Some vets think that if they have seen rats then mice are the same.
Very misguided many times. When I moved to WI I used switchboard.com to
find vets (helped a lot more than the phone book oddly). I started at
the top of the list and went down. I wrote down valuable questions so I
didn't waste anyones time. I had a list of main health concerns, if
they even saw mice, cost, etc. It's sad that cost is an issue but in
reality, it often is. Good luck with your talker!
Take care,
Barbara
