Some extra info:
We haven't got a clue to what caused the gas (bloat) this time. Two
years ago our vet noticed that Doodle was very sensitive, so we were
very careful with selecting his food. Last Friday he had nothing
special, just his normal diet. It only occured to me that he ate a bit
more then usual. Our piggies get their veggies at 7 pm each evening, but
by that time Doodle wasn't interested in eating any more. He didn't
touch any of it. I guess we'll never know what happened. The most
frustrating of it all is that Doodle was one of the healthiest pigs we
had. Most of our piggies are rescued piggies, including Doodle. But
apart from his sensitive belly he was never ill, was always strong and
playfull.
I guess it's part of the choise we made. We decided to give rescued
piggies a chance, so we have to accept that not all of them make it this
long.
I just received news from my wife: Dribbel is expected to arrive at our
place at about 17:00h. Without putting aside the grief of losing Doodle,
I'm also excited to meet the "new guy"...
