Well they can certainly bite....but are very reluctant do so as their first
and over-whelming instinct is to make a run for it. Getting close enough
to
bite probably means they will end up being eaten. Your cat (I guess) was
well fed and not prepared for a guinea pig turning nasty, however should
your cat have been desparately hungry it would have been "no contest" for
the pig.
