Introducing my new editions

Hello, I am new here.  We just got 2 ginger guinea-pigs 2 days ago.
Question: they seem depressed.  Do I keep trying to handle them, talk
to them etc or leave them to get used to their new surroundings in
their own time?

Question:  I am really really worried that a rat might get into their
hutch at night.  Does this ever happen?  Would a rat attack the sweet
natured guinea-pigs?
