That too, is an obsessive compulsive behavior.

Here's a dog who'd just finished a session of extingui****ng thunder
storm phobia using lights as a distraction. Long ago he'd had a light
chasing OCD where he actually bit his owner chasing a light reflecting
off of a CD she was putting into her computer. After the thunder storm
phobia was extinguished I extinguished his light chasing OCD again
by using sound distraction.

It was kinda quick so you might not even notice it if you aren't
familiar
with effective non physical behavior modification and conditioning,
but the sound I used was his toe nails digging into the floor to
scramble
after the light: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSZz1x6uqlE

There's 12 brief videos in the thunder storm session, it will do
you well to view them all.

Of course not. And that's where the problem lies in
relying on excessive exercise to control hyperactive
behaviors and OCD'S.

Of course.

That too, is another OCD behavior.

That's absurd. Excessive exercise is not apropriate for fitness
and it has absolutely nothing to do with "keeping his mind fit".

In fact, quite the opposite. What it will do is make him more
obsessive compulsive and uncontrolable.

Not really. If you allow him to indulge in obsessive compulsive
behaviors he may become deranged and may develop other OCD'S.

ALL dogs are hunters.

> As such, he can't ever be let off the leash.

That's absurd. Any dog can be trained to a 100% reliable
come command in just a few minutes using Pavlovian
conditioning.

Curious that Pavlov never noticed that sort of problem?

Yeah. There's a lotta that goin around.

That too...

That's not so. He can, you can't, because you don't know how to train
him.

> He will walk on the treadmill, but I don't put him on it very often.

That's absurd.

That's absurd.

That's not sayin much.

> Oh, and to the suggestion of rally or such...

That's absurd. So called rally is for dogs who can't be trained
to the strict discipline of the obedience ring, kind of like the
"good citizens test", a joke.

That sounds nice.

> Thanks to all,

You're welcome.
