Chemical in food cans, baby bottles cited as health risk

by Xerces & Mr.Katsky <cats@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 17, 2008 at 08:50 AM

Market Watch re****ts a NIH re****t on re****t on "bisphenol A" used in
plastics and can liners. The FDA relies exclusively on two industry
funded studies to deem it safe:

> A chemical used in consumer products ranging from baby bottles to
> food-can linings to compact discs is widely found in humans and may
> affect childhood development and reproduction, according to a new
> draft re****t from the National Institutes of Health.

See:

bottles/story.aspx?guid=%7BB5B7A19E%2DEEBB%2D48E5%2DA5C8%2DBAA240E3D492%7D&dist=msr_1~~

The article cites damage to rodents used in the tests. Could this be a
cause of
problems observed in household pets, like cats? Xerces & Comrade Katsky
love their
canned breakfast, I'm not sure I feel like preparing it from raw
materials.
