summary:
The National Academy of Science will release an interim
re****t to Congress this week on the National Zoo's Animal
management care procedures. The re****t was requested after
a series of deaths occured at the National Zoo - which included
the deaths of two red pandas in January 2003. The two red
pandas died of water-released rat poison that was buried
in their exhibit to contain rat/rodent infestations at the
Zoo. The re****t is coming near the end of the Zoo's provisional
one year accreditation from the American Zoo and Aquarium
Association.
