This project is part of the national giant otter survey in Bolivia. In
this period emphasis is on the eastern parts of Bolivia, a largely
unknown area.
We are aiming for the development of a Bolivian national conservation
strategy for the endangered giant otter. This will not be possible
without standardized and actualized distribution data for the species.
We are conducting research on the competition between giant otters and
fishermen, and on the diet and the ethology of giant otters.
Also we run a campaign on education and sensibility in areas where
otters are abundant. All this fieldwork allows us to travel some of
the most biodiverse regions of the world.
