We recently acquired (rescued) a twelve year old mule with a bone spur
on her navicular area- fully understanding that this was something we
would have to manage and deal with ongoing and all that (special
shoes, pain management etc). We've only had her a short time and so
far she seems fine, with no limp or pain. The vet told us that the
condition hadn't deteriorated in two years, and then some friends told
us that there was a new treatment that actually removes the spurs
entirely.
Is this something too good to be true? Has anyone heard about it yet?
Or tried it? She's a good mule, bomb proof and very forgiving unless
it comes to sharing her food :) I'd like to see her have another
fifteen years without any pain at all. We don't ride all that often,
but I would like to know that my riding her isn't going to be an
unpleasant thing.
