Conny
Almost A Whisper
Powell, S.
This book is the result of his transformation from a rough and tumble
cowboy to a horseman of the new order. Included in this book is an
interesting chapter that explains the dangers of treating a horse like
a pet. A pet horse is a spoiled horse and a spoiled horse is
dangerous, says Powell. He balances this idea though with the belief
that neither is a horse a slave. Ideally, he says, the horse is a
companion and a friend. Ultimately, this book instills an ethic of
humane treatment and respect into the horse / owner relation****p. It
is, by all counts, a win-win situation. Those who have enjoyed
learning from other horsemen of the new order will find Powells book
helpful and insightful. He speaks his mind, writes from his own life
experiences and draws his own conclusions.
