Hi all. Just started watching this group. I Live in Idaho and have a
small herd of mostly nubians, 8 does and 1 buck.
Just finished kidding, and out of 7 does we now have 10 kids.
5 does were first timers with one set of twins. The two older does (a
toggenberg and an alpine) both had twins.
My wife grew up around goats but it seems they all just ran wild (they
did milk their does though)
I grew up with chickens and rabbits. ( We also have a small flock of
buff orpingtons)
I have been doing the disbudding for the first time ever and I guess
I'll see by the results in time by how it turns out. I do have a
question about the Iron I ordered from Hoeggers. It is the Reinhart
x50 and at the hot end of things (under the bolt for the tip) is a
?switch? slider sort of thing. One side has an S and the other is a D.
What in the world is this? A temp setting maybe? I just put it in the
middle.
I've been watching the goup for about a week and it seems rather slow.
Whats the traffic in this group like? Is it just a place where two or
three people socialize occasionally or do a number of people share
their techniques and expieriences?
