I tell ya, the past few years (decades) I've just been dismayed at fur
prices. I still don't really understand what happened.
Why have prices fallen so far from what they were in the 70's?
Or maybe the question should be: why were they so high in the 70's?
I can see that maybe fur is less popular---but are coat prices down? I
don't think so.
Is there a glut of ranch fur?
Is wild fur always less desireable?
I'd think that if handled right a market could be improved for WILD
fur. But maybe that's a longshot.
Oh well, if anyone has ideas or links to further info on fur markets
and how they've changed over time, I'd appreciate it!
I hit my stride in trapping in 1976 when muskrats were at least $5 (and
movie tickets were $1) and fox were $75, mink $35, coon $30. Those were
the days! I was a teenager and MOTIVATED and worked real hard out there
in the boonies.
