Just browsing the newsgroups and wondered if there was anything here for
trappers. And here I am.... It is sad to see all the other crap that
gets
posted.
I use to trap about 30 years ago - spent most of my time in the winter
running my line on the river. At that time muskrat, mink and beaver were
what I trapped. I do remember, however, that one night I checked a trap
that I layed on a beaver dam spillway. Layed a ear of corn right by it.
I
guess an ol' mallard hen looked down there, saw the corn, and then saw a
nice little round landing pad right beside it. When I got to that trap
there was that mallard and the trap, hovering like a helicopter in the
air.
I don't trap any more....moved out of the hills and into the city. Can't
seem to get the desire back to trap - don't know why. I think the thing I
liked most of all about it was the preparation. The smell of the dye and
wax
when I boiled those traps I can still remember........
Good luck to you.
