Hi All,
I have a 10 month old siamese boy called Eustace. The problem in brief
is that he has raised alt level in his liver which first showed in
February when he went to be castrated. He has been tested several
times since and this one level fluctuates between 600 and 900. the
last test was two days ago and was "off the scale" as the vet put it.
This is the only thing that appears to be wrong all other tests have
come back normal. He's also had a scan which again was normal. He
shows no signs of there being anything wrong with him he eats and
drinks well is growing well and has no sign of jaundice. The vets I go
to don't know what's causing this high alt level and now want to do a
biopsy to find out more, they have got me some tablets to give him to
help with blood clotting when they do the op which is planned for mid
next week, I just wondered if anyone has come across this before, or
if anyone can give me any idea as to the cause or even just the
questions I should be asking my vet?
I have been with my vet for over seven years as I also have two
Orientals and my Siamese's brother, and they have always been great
and I have every confidence in them. It's just that it seems to me to
be such a traumatic procedure to put Eustace through, I wanted the
biopsy to be the very last resort.
Any advise would greatly appreciate it. He's such a gorgeous boy I'd
do or spend anything to get him well, though as I said earlier he
appears absolutely fine and if we'd never had the blood test in the
first place we would not have known anything was wrong.
Many thanks
Christian
